I've been teaching acoustic, electric and bass guitar since 1992 and been a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors since 1999. Based in south London I've built up a thriving teaching practice combining work at Blackheath Conservatoire of Music and the Arts with private teaching. Whether you're just starting out on the guitar or you're an accomplished player looking to improve your skills, I can help you achieve your goals.
Styles
I have experience of a wide range of styles both as a player and a teacher—from rock, pop, jazz, blues, and folk to classical guitar.
Graded Examinations
Although some students prefer not to take exams, they can be useful if you like to measure your progress. I've helped many of my students through the Ofqual accredited guitar examinations provided by the Registry of Guitar Tutors in association with the London College of Music.

Bio
I am a guitarist and teacher with more than 30 years’ professional experience, and during this time I have taught acoustic, electric and bass guitar to players of all ages and abilities, ranging from beginners to professional musicians.
I have experience of a wide range of styles both as a player and a teacher, stretching from rock, pop, blues, classical and folk to jazz. I began classical guitar lessons at the age of 7 but by my early teens I found that my interests lay more in popular styles such as rock and pop, and especially in jazz. My teachers included respected jazz guitarists Mike Outram and Phil Robson.
I have been interested in the Alexander Technique, and fascinated by its application to music making, since the mid 1990s when I began studying with Alexander teacher Angela Barlow. As a result of this experience I found that I was able to play the guitar with greater ease and freedom, and in my teaching I draw on the insights I gained as as I try to help my students achieve a balanced, comfortable approach to the instrument.
I have been teaching at Blackheath Conservatoire of Music and the Arts for more than 25 years. It’s my proud boast that I was the first specialist in popular guitar styles to teach at this institution.
